Entry for October 9, 2007
Boat hauled on Friday and many came to help throughout the weekend and Monday. Special thanks to Mike Barron, Greg and wife (Lisa), and Fred. Without your help... I probably would have given up. Thanks also to all who stopped by to offer moral support (often under-rated), opinions, technical advice,or just came to see the thing out of the water. I've taken some pictures but was too tired to download them or post anything on the site about the ordeal (till now). Here's what happened. The bottom paint was flaking off the hull and it was covered with small blisters. Apparently, the bottom was sandblasted down to the fiberglass and some type of yellow-brown bumpy barrier coat was applied. The blisters were between the fiberglass and the barrier coat which obviously didn't do it's job. So... Mike, with the help of Greg, ground the Yellow-brown coat off the entire hull while Fred and I scraped off the old bottom paint which was too soft to grind (weakened by paint stripper). More on this topic to follow.
