(Larger Image) Great weekend of sailing. Six boats went out on Saturday- the Plummers, Larry, Red, George, Steve, and myself. The morning started out with strong winds; I double reefed and most everyone else had at least one reef. As we topped Broad Slough and turned upriver toward Rio Vista – No wind. At one point, all boats were sailing trim in different directions at the same time while my windex rotated a full 360 degrees. We all ended up motoring west toward Pittsburg as the wind returned blowing light but steady from the northwest. We sailed upwind to Chips Island before turning back. Larry flew the A-sail, Plummers changed to their 155, and Greg and I put up “the big jib.” My only other head sail that came with the boat from SoCal. It’s a bit yellowed but “hecka” big – say 160% big. Downwind and “poled-out” we passed Red and Steve but couldn’t catch the Plummers or Larry. Larry returned via New York Slough beating us all back. Turned out to be a great day of sailing although a bit chilly (note the jackets and sweats). Can't wait for summer to return already and it's only October.
